This is a very nice lamp we inherited from my wife's grandparents. I started the lampshade first; but-once I got into the carved stone lion-it became obvious that the shade was too small...an all-too-familiar turn of events in my new drawing life.

So what if it's not 'right' - you have got good practice in shading, the lion is great, really 3D and with a sense of character and you can just move on to the next effort
Have I been there and done that! Occasionally very light sketches of simple shapes to indicate size and placement helps me.
