Everyday Matters Challenge #18: Draw the View from the Window of...

This drawing is inspired by a photograph I took out the window of our hotel room in Lucca, Italy when we traveled there in 2005. It continually seems like just yesterday.
Using a set of woodless graphite pencils which are smooth as silk, I transported myself back to that exquisite traveler's moment when one wakes up in yet another new place and gazes out at the crisp scene so full of promise, wondering what's down that path and around that far bend.

Hello again Rock, I really like what you have captured here........the strong dignity of architecture with your inimitable style of detail: the "smooth as silk" quality does come through as one's eye goes down the narrow lane. And I love how you take me up from the ground of Lucca and its ancient intimacy and into the heavens of Italy--where dreams and possibility reside. Your drawing reminds me that I have too, known, and long for, that particular Italian: "exquisite traveler's moment when one wakes up in yet another new place........". What fun! Thank you for the memories. Well done!

I echo the sentiments of the previous commenter. I feel such ties to a trip to Ireland, I never will not be there. this work is marvelous and strong---

I really like this composition. You've done a great job capturing the depth of the street. It draws you right in.
