Everyday Matters Challenge #123: Bell

This is a view looking out from our side deck-which is covered by an arbor from which this bell hangs. The large leaves to the left belong to a tree that is native (and revered) in our little ecosystem: a 'bigleaf magnolia'.
This beautiful, custom-made bell was given to my wife and me by her mother when we moved into our new house. Besides looking very pleasing, the bell is rung occasionally to call the cats: the three of whom use this deck to enter and exit the porch.

I LOVE your bell and the beautiful setting you're drawn it in. This is such a nicely composed drawing. Superb.

I really enjoyed your story and the sketch is just lovely. I really like the deep shadow towards the bottom of the composition. Your blog is great fun. I found the green pepper "experiment" especially interesting.

The bells are ringing! First time to visit your site today. Thanks for visiting our blogsite. This is a lovely picture and pen and ink is fabulous to work with, so I must go shopping and buy some bottles of coloured ink. What size are your pics?

The drawings are done with Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens 'superfine (S) #199' and 'brush (B) in Cool Grey #272' and/or Pigma Micron .01 in Black...no bottles of ink here.
My sketchbook is a 6" x 6" spiral- bound book by Canson. I think it is an 80# paper. This sketchbook is my first sketchbook I've ever pursued...and I am totally enthused by the whole process and the support from all the other artists -like yourselves-that stop by and leave kind words. Thanks.

You have managed to achieve a lot of depth in this drawing with those wonderful darks, and yet it has a lovely stylized quality to it. Very, very nice.
